Set within stunning grounds and steeped in history, Berkeley Castle provides a fairy tale setting for wedding celebrations, with the picture-perfect venue offering couples exclusive use for the day.

The splendid medieval fortress, located near the town of Berkeley, is licensed to host civil ceremonies and benefits from a choice of magnificent spaces to say ‘I do’.

The 14th century Great Hall, which features beautiful stained glass windows, tapestries, a beamed ceiling and original black and white flooring, is ideal for larger ceremonies with capacity for up to 150 guests.

For smaller celebrations, The Long Drawing Room, complete with carved gilt mirrors and an impressive mantelpiece, provides a more intimate space for up to 70 people.

St Mary’s Church, which dates back to 1225, is located next to Berkeley Castle and couples can meet with the parish vicar, Reverend Richard Avery, to discuss to possibility of getting married in the church.

After the ceremony, guests can enjoy alfresco drinks receptions on the Gun Terrace or during the colder months, the lounge provides a cosy setting with the option to have an open fire.

The Great Hall can seat up to 130 guests for wedding breakfasts, while The Long Drawing Room can welcome up to 30 for a formal meal, with the tempting menus created by “Napier Catering:”http://www.soglosweddings.com/cakes-catering/caterers/38591/napier-catering.

The experienced team at Napier Catering work closely with couples to devise the perfect catering throughout the day, from canapés and three-course wedding breakfasts, to evening buffets and summer barbecues.

Couples can bring their own wine, Champagne or other drinks to enjoy during the reception and wedding breakfast, with no corkage or storage fee charged, while the Berkeley Bar will be open in the evening.

The manicured grounds offer endless photo opportunities, with the choice of backdrops spanning exquisite scented roses, grand stone staircases and a lily pond and water fountain.

While the venue isn’t licensed for outdoor ceremonies, couples can have blessings in the glorious gardens, making it ideal for those looking for a unique and truly personal day.

The hire cost includes a one-night stay in the romantic Blossom Cottage on the evening of your wedding, with a complimentary Champagne breakfast hamper delivered to the English country cottage the morning after the big day.

Nearby accommodation includes Brook House, which is just a short walk from the castle and can sleep up to 20 guests in the grade II listed property, while also offering the perfect space for the bridal party to get ready.
